Crispy and Golden Potato Rösti

Introduction:

Potato Rösti, a classic Swiss dish, combines crispy golden crust and soft, buttery potatoes. Perfect as a side dish or a standalone treat, this recipe is simple yet flavorful. Garnished with fresh herbs, it’s a crowd-pleaser that will elevate any meal.

Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium-sized potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold)
  • 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil (for frying)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Optional garnish: Fresh parsley or chives, chopped

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Potatoes: Peel the potatoes and grate them using a box grater. Press the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel or use your hands to squeeze out excess moisture.
  2. Season: In a bowl, mix the grated potatoes with salt and pepper. Adjust seasoning to your preference.
  3. Heat the Pan: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter or olive oil.
  4. Cook the Rösti: Add the grated potatoes to the skillet and press them down evenly to form a flat, circular shape. Cook for about 6–8 minutes or until the bottom is golden and crispy.
  5. Flip Carefully: Using a plate, invert the rösti and slide it back into the skillet to cook the other side. Add more butter or oil if needed.
  6. Finish Cooking: Cook for another 6–8 minutes until the other side is crispy and golden.
  7. Serve: Transfer the rösti to a plate and garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or chives.

Enjoy your homemade Potato Rösti as a side dish or pair it with a dollop of sour cream for added indulgence!
