This cheesy sausage and pepper bake is a hearty, flavorful dish packed with Italian sausage, bell peppers, and gooey melted cheese. Ingredients:
- 1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy)
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions:
- Preheat & Prep:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease small foil pans or a baking dish.
- Cook the Sausage:
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the Italian sausage, breaking it apart as it cooks, until browned and fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté the Vegetables:
- In the same skillet, add onions and bell peppers.
- Sauté for 5-7 minutes until slightly softened.
- Add minced garlic, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Stir for 1-2 minutes.
- Assemble the Bake:
- In the baking dish or foil pans, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce.
- Add the cooked sausage and sautéed vegetables on top.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over everything.
- Bake & Serve:
