Introduction:
This golden, crispy apple fritter is the perfect treat for a cozy autumn day or a sweet breakfast indulgence. With chunks of juicy apples and a crisp, caramelized coating, these fritters are deliciously addictive. Serve them warm, dusted with powdered sugar, or drizzled with a simple glaze.
Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2/3 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups peeled and chopped apples (any sweet variety, such as Fuji or Honeycrisp)
- Vegetable oil, for frying
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Prepare the Fritter Batter:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped apples.
- Heat the Oil:
- Pour about 1 inch of vegetable oil into a large, heavy-bottomed skillet or pot.
- Heat the oil over medium heat until it reaches around 350°F (175°C). If you don’t have a thermometer, test by dropping a small bit of batter in the oil; it should sizzle and float to the top.
- Fry the Fritters:
- Carefully spoon about 1/4 cup of batter per fritter into the hot oil. Fry only a few at a time to avoid crowding.
- Fry for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the fritters with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Make the Glaze:
- In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Adjust the milk to reach your desired consistency.
- Glaze and Serve:
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm fritters, or dip each fritter in the glaze for full coverage.
- Serve immediately, and enjoy the warm, crispy, and sweet apple fritters!
