Homemade Apple Fritters

Introduction:

Apple fritters are a simple yet delicious treat perfect for breakfast or a quick snack. These fritters combine the natural sweetness of grated apples with a fluffy batter, fried to golden perfection, and lightly dusted with powdered sugar. Serve them warm and enjoy their comforting flavors!

Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium apples, peeled and grated
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) plain yogurt or sour cream
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for extra flavor)
  • A pinch of salt
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Batter

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine grated apples, yogurt (or sour cream), egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the apple mixture, stirring until a thick batter forms.

Step 2: Fry the Fritters

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add enough oil to cover the bottom (about 1/4 inch deep).
  2. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, spreading slightly to form small fritters.
  3. Cook for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 3: Serve

  • Dust the warm fritters with powdered sugar and serve immediately.

Tips:

  • For a richer flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or a drizzle of honey on top.
  • These fritters pair wonderfully with a dollop of whipped cream or a side of vanilla yogurt.

Enjoy these quick, fluffy, and fruity fritters as a delightful way to use fresh apples in a comforting dish!
