Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

    • In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Add the oil (or melted butter), milk, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
    • Sift in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Fold gently until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
  2. Prepare the Pan:
    • Grease a round cake pan or deep skillet with oil or butter.
    • Pour the batter into the pan and tap it gently on the counter to remove air bubbles.
  3. Cook on the Stove:
    • Place a large, heavy-bottomed pan or pot on the stove and preheat it on low heat for 5 minutes.
    • Place the cake pan inside the pot and cover it with a tight-fitting lid.
    • Cook on low heat for 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Cool and Serve:
    • Once done, carefully remove the cake pan from the pot and let it cool for 10-15 minutes.
    • Invert the cake onto a plate, slice, and serve as is, or with your favorite toppings such as powdered sugar, fruit, or frosting.
