Ingredients:

For the Filling:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup (250g) ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup (15g) chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Sauce and Topping:

  • 2 cups (500ml) marinara sauce
  • 1 cup (250g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

For the Pasta:

  • 12 cannelloni shells (or substitute with large pasta tubes or lasagna sheets, softened in hot water)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a skillet, heat a drizzle of oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef, onion, and garlic. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is softened.
    • Drain excess fat and let the mixture cool slightly.
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture with ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, parsley, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  2. Assemble the Cannelloni:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Stuff the cannelloni shells with the beef and cheese mixture. If using lasagna sheets, roll them up after filling. Arrange the stuffed shells in a baking dish.
  3. Add Sauce and Topping:
    • Pour the marinara sauce evenly over the stuffed cannelloni.
    • Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese generously over the top.
  4. Bake:
    • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
    • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  5. Garnish and Serve:
    • Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
    • Serve hot, paired with a side salad or garlic bread.

Enjoy your hearty and cheesy ground beef cannelloni—a dish that will leave everyone craving seconds!
