- 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs
For the Cream Filling:
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy whipping cream, chilled
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For Decoration:
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions:
- Prepare the Choux Pastry:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, milk, butter, salt, and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Reduce heat to low and add the flour all at once, stirring vigorously until a smooth dough forms. Continue cooking and stirring for 1-2 minutes until the dough pulls away from the sides of the pan and forms a ball.
- Remove from heat and let the dough cool for 5 minutes.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and shiny.
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a round tip and pipe small mounds onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until puffed and golden. Cool completely.
- Make the Cream Filling:
- In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Transfer to a piping bag.
- Assemble the Cream Puffs:
- Slice the cooled choux pastry shells in half horizontally. Pipe the cream filling generously onto the bottom halves and place the tops back on.
- Dust with powdered sugar for a finishing touch.
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
